February 26 - So, I find myself at the local Elk's hall playing some pool and choosing a beer. I order a Miller High Life. A 5% ABV straw colored beer, the profile of this beer closely reflects its clarity. As the "Champagne of Beers," its only resembalance is its fast evaporating head and bubbly body. As most popular American Lagers it is produced with adjuncts of rice or corn that are added to the malt to give the light clear appearance. As you sip - no - gulp down this easy drinking beer it is suprisingly smooth and finishes with a sweet corn taste. Now some craft fans might knock the "High Life" but I want to present a few positive points. First the price! I know there are times when you find yourself at the beer cooler short of funds and your going to spend a long night hanging with friends. What are you thinking? Well, if your like me, my friends know I like good beer and they always want to try one or two when I arrive. But, when you show up with the "High Life" no one seems to interested. That is, untill they have quickly finished their ten dollar six pack and start looking around for a seventh. Sometimes quantity can be a precious comodity. The variety of packaging lets you dictate your beer party marathon. And if you want to grab the 40 for dinner it is just the right amount to satisfy your poor-man beer needs. I also notice because they are so easy to drink and have that sweet taste they are great with a few bowls of chili or some spicy barbecue. Try it for yourself and let me know. In the summer I love to sit down at a table full of blue crabs that I caught that day and a cooler packed with ice and the "High Life." I guess it takes me back to the days when my "Swamper" family had these great clam bakes. Miss you grandma! Day four - drdredlockThis blog is dedicated to tasting a new beer each day and sharing your thoughts about your daily devotion. It can be any beer from Miller to Narragansett to John Courage. It is not a place to trash beer but give honest opinions and enlightened criticism. It is most certainly a place to discover new beers as we share our daily devotionals together. So "pop" a cap take a dram and share! -drdredlock
